Teach For America alum Nicky DeMoss (Greater Tulsa ’12) understands just how pivotal a learning environment infused with arts and technology—one that focuses on social-emotional development and holds kids to high expectations—is for her students’ academic success.
“Our students are deeply bright, incredibly insightful, and powerful young men and women who are creating visions for their futures and taking active steps toward achieving their goals,” Mrs. DeMoss says. “By providing targeted intervention, I am helping to propel my students toward deeper and broader content understanding, increased achievement, and high levels of confidence and competence.”
Mrs. DeMoss is working hard to help her students at Tulsa Legacy Charter School in Tulsa, Oklahoma build a future that is both equitable and bright. And when students visit her intervention classroom, they’ll receive targeted instruction that will aid in their success.
The classroom, however, is in need of furniture, organizational supplies—drawers and filing systems—and additional classroom necessities, such as markers and whiteboards, to further promote learning in the classroom. Mrs. DeMoss has turned to DonorsChoose.org to raise funds to purchase these items, which will be critical to maintaining a productive learning environment.
“Having a classroom where all students have their materials neatly organized, available, and prepared for the day will mean quick access to learning, feelings of inclusion and involvement in our classroom, and a productive learning environment in which all kiddos can grow,” Mrs. DeMoss says.
Please consider supporting Mrs. DeMoss’ project today—and thank you, as always, for supporting teachers and the kids they serve.
